With a month left in the summer, lots of kids are coming home from sleep-away camp, finishing up summer sports programs, or saying goodbye to their day-camps with weeks to spare left in their breaks. For many, that means looking for a way to fill the rest of the summer, and what better way to fill a weekend than to take a family camping trip! There’s no better family bonding than sitting around a campfire comparing s’mores. Buddybagz make packing for the trip a cinch – the kids can even pack themselves! So you’ve got a car full of kids, snacks for the road, and a trunk full of Buddybagz and a tent – where to? Here’s 5 of our favorite kid-friendly camping destinations in the US:
Utah’s first national monument, Natural Bridges is named after it’s three grandiose natural bridges, named “Kachina,” “Owachomo” and “Sipapu,” in honor of the Native Americans that once made this area their home. This is sure to be a family favorite as the park offers Junior Rangers, outdoor classrooms, and Art in the Parks.
Caledonia State Park has a huge variety of attractions, including fishing, swimming, picnicking, golf, a totem pole playhouse, and more. The park even offers non-denominational “Sunday School” for visiting children.
Mammoth Lakes offer some of the most beautiful scenery on the west coast. At many of its offered campgrounds, you can camp lakeside, where you’ll have a vantage point to take the kids out canoeing or kayaking.
Hither Hills State Park offers camping families the best of both worlds, with a two-mile sandy ocean beach AND a 40-acre freshwater lake. These campgrounds also offer a playground, playing fields, biking trails, horseback riding, and night fishing.
Lighthouses, salt marshes, and starry skies, oh my! Here the family can enjoy some quality beach time, kayak on the sound, and climb inside the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Coastal wildlife abounds with dolphins, sea lions, whales, seals, shorebirds, and sea turtles (but be careful not to disturb them!). Bonus tip: bring a kite!
Wherever you choose to have your summer camping trip, you, your kids, and their Buddyz are sure to have a memorable weekend!
